JACKIE'S
CHILDHOOD
Jackie Robinson had a very rough childhood. One of the main reason he had a rough
childhood was because he was poor. The neighborhood children were white so they
tried to make Jackie’s family move. The only reason that Jackie's family didn’t move is
because his mother didn’t want the taunting to bother him. Jackie’s father left
when Jackie was young leaving his mother alone to care for Jackie and his
brother. After Jackie’s father left his family, his mother didn’t have the money
to pay for the house so they had to move to California were they had to share a
small apartment with Jackie’s uncle. Jackie had to deal with all this through a
short period of time. Jackie persevered by overcoming his rough
childhood.
FIRST
BLACK PLAYER
Jackie Robinson was the first person to break the color barrier in major
league baseball. That accomplishment came with some challenges Jackie knew these challenges were going
to be difficult to overcome. For example he was booed by his own fans because of
the color of his skin. Even his own teammates didn’t know whether or not to
acccept him because if he got to play that meant that one of them was getting
cut. Jackie persevered by being the first black first player in the major
leagues.

JACKIE
IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES
Jackie Robinson got to play in the major leagues. First he had to play in
the black league. The black league is where the black people played because they
couldn’t play in the majors. After playing in the black league, he got a chance
to play in the majors. Then he was signed to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The
Dodgers were from New York at the time and were a powerhouse. The only reason he
got to play in the major league was because he had the skills. Jackie persevered
by playing in the major league.
By following his dream Jackie Robinson was able to overcome his rough
childhood, being the first black player in the major leagues and playing in the
major leagues.
